You cannot mine XRP, and anyone offering you that chance is selling you a myth. So what does work: How does a blockchain reach consensus without staking or mining? XRP works on a consensus-based protocol, XRPL, which leverages a group of trusted validators to confirm transactions across a network.

When XRP was launched in 2012, all 100 billion tokens were fully created at genesis, creating a fixed supply straight out of the gate. No new XRP can be “mined” or created, making the concept of “mining XRP” problematic.
This is because the XRP Ledger (XRPL) uses a unique consensus process involving validator nodes. Individual XRPL node operators configure their own lists of trusted validators, called a Unique Node List (UNL), and their software prioritizes those validators’ votes in the consensus process. To propose a new version of the ledger, a validator node must hold a set of transactions for four seconds, and then broadcast the proposed ledger to the entire network. Other validators must then cast their votes. If a large supermajority of trusted validators agree on the proposed ledger, the network accepts it as the new validated ledger.
This consensus process is speedy and practical— XRPL confirms transaction in roughly every few seconds, according to information on ExchangeAtlas's page on XRP.
In contrast to many other cryptocurrencies that rely on “mining” for generating new tokens or for validator rewards, the 100-billion fixed supply model of the XRP Ledger eschews the staking and mining process.
Another interesting mechanism of the XRP Ledger is Ripple’s utilization of escrow accounts to manage XRP tokens. In 2017, Ripple placed 55 billion XRP in a series of on-ledger escrow contracts, which release the tokens into circulation on a monthly schedule. Unused amounts are returned to escrow on a monthly schedule.
Despite all of these mechanisms being made public, you may still encounter online ads or cold calls claiming to offer ‘cloud mining’ of XRP.
